Led by Gail Richards of Sea and Sage Audubon Society Sherman Library and Gardens is pleased to partner with Sea and Sage Audubon Society for a fun and informative excursion at the San Joaquin Marsh. Located in Irvine, the marsh is a 300-acre coastal freshwater wetland. This unique site functions as a wildlife sanctuary and an urban water purification system. Experienced Sea and Sage leaders will introduce you to the history of the site, the ongoing partnership with Audubon and the Irvine Ranch Water District, and diverse plants and wildlife. Before you go at Sherman Library & Gardens
- Go in from Dahlia Avenue — the entrance has moved while work goes on in the gardens, and some areas are closed off with construction noise around.
- Admission is $12 for an adult and $5 for a child aged 4 to 17.
- Kids 3 and under are free, and you don't need to book a ticket for them at all.
- An admission ticket is good between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., so this is a daytime visit.
- The library gallery closes on and off for classes and private events — call or ask at the front desk that morning if that's what you came to see.
